Say hello to the Honda Clarity, a new hybrid car from Honda

At the last New York International Auto Show, Honda unveiled the all-new Honda Clarity.
  
The Honda Clarity is an eco-friendly car that will be offered in different versions starting with plug-in hybrid and 100% electric models. A version equipped with a hydrogen engine is also planned, although not yet for Canada.
  
Only an electric motor for the new Honda Clarity
  
There will be several versions of the Honda Clarity, but no version will be powered exclusively with a gasoline engine alone. The Clarity range is the Honda family of eco-friendly cars and the lineup’s models will be competing with the new Hyundai Ioniq and the Toyota Prius.
  
The hybrid plug-in model will be powered by a 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle four-cylinder engine to which Honda engineers have paired an electric motor that serves as a generator. This means that the gasoline engine is used to power the 17 kWh battery when it is flat. In doing so, it will be possible to travel more than 500 kilometers with the Clarity while its electric-only range will be about 68 kilometers. Under certain circumstances, the gasoline engine can also power the wheels directly.
